Adwords, is it worth to try?

The great things about adwords is that it produces instant targeted traffic, which is crucial if you are still trying to establish your organic search results, you do tend to get a lot of hit and run traffic if you use too broad of keywords, but if you know your market and can narrow your keyword scope, your overall costs will come down and your ROI per click will increase.

I would like some more alternatives to AdWords but the volume just isnt there from what Ive seen.

I have been playing with adwords to try and make the most of my budget, targeting locations, eliminating certain keywords, but have now run out of ideas.
